For more than 50 years, the Southgate Goodfellows has devoted its energy to passionately provide Christmas for the needy and less fortunate children of Southgate, Michigan. Over the past 5 years we have been able to expand our giving ability. We have successfully instituted a School Backpack and School Supply Program for the previous years participants of our Goodfellows program; and have been able to help dozens of senior citizens from Southgate with donations of food. We recently were able to obtain our 501(c)3 status from the IRS. Find out how you can contribute to the future of someone in need through donations of money and time.
Over the last few years we have been able to incorporate other volunteer opportunities. We have been successful in a Adopt a Family Program. With the help of local businesses, the business is given a needy family to support during Christmas. We ensure that the family does qualify for the program and in fact in Need. If interested in "Adopting a Family" please email or call.
Southgate Goodfellows primarily operates seasonally, beginning in late summer with our School Backpack and School Supply Program and then carries over into the Holiday season which for us begins in September of each year and usually ends in Mid to late December. Please feel free to contact us via email for volunteer opportunities.
Locally, Southgate Goodfellows helps to ensure that no child under the age of 16 is without a Christmas. We strive hard to ensure that all of our residents are able to have a enjoyable Christmas no matter what their economic situation. In 2013, we were able to help 35 Southgate family's with 87 children. Without the support of our generous citizen's this would not have been possible.
